In CYC, the age guidelines are organized by Grade level as well as birthdate. The mission of CYC has always been to allow kids to play with their classmates, so a system such as “U14” or “Born in 2006” does not work for our organization. The birthdates listed below do allow for children that may be old for their grade level, but would still like to play with their classmates.

- 11 & 12th Grades: To include players who have not completed the 12th grade and were born on or after July 31, 2005.
- 9 & 10th Grades: To include players who have not completed the 10th grade and were born on or after July 31, 2007.
- 8th Grade: To include players who have not completed the 8th grade and were born on or after July 31, 2009.
- 7th Grade: To include players who have not completed the 7th grade and were born on or after July 31, 2010.
- 6th Grade: To include players who have not completed the 6th grade and were born on or after July 31, 2011.
- 5th Grade: To include players who have not completed the 5th grade and were born on or after July 31, 2012.
- 4th Grade: To include players who have not completed the 4th grade and were born on or after July 31, 2013.
- 3rd Grade: To include players who have not completed the 3rd grade and were born on or after July 31, 2014.
- 2nd Grade: To include players who have not completed the 2nd grade and were born on or after July 31, 2015.
- 1st Grade: To include players who have not completed the 1st grade and were born on or after July 31, 2016.
- Kindergarten: To include players who have not completed Kindergarten and were born on or after July 31, 2017.
Minimum age for participation in the program is 5 years of age by July 31, 2024 or a student in kindergarten.

- Playing up into an older age division: Playing up an older age division team is allowed. Some programs may have restrictions regarding playing up. Please check with the appropriate program.
- Playing down into a younger age division:
- Grade School Divisions: The CYC Athletic Association reserves the right to approve/disapprove any player whose birthdate falls within the proper division classification but whose grade does not fall within the proper grade classification, provided that player advanced in grade for academic reasons.
- High School Divisions: A player in high school may not play in the grade school divisions. A player that has graduated from high school may not play in any division.
Players seeking exceptions to this must request in writing special permission from the CYC Office. The request will be reviewed and may or may not be approved.
