Get answers to the most common questions

How do I register?

Registration for our chess program can be done in two ways.  You can either join a team through a participating parish/school or register individually with the CYC office for a meet by clicking here.  For 2020-21 our chess meets will be played online.  You must create an account at www.lichess.org and join the “CYC Chess League” team.  To find out what parishes or schools already participate in CYC Chess, click here.

When is the chess season?

The CYC Chess season runs from December until early March. The standard schedule is 4 qualifying meets and a championship meet for the top 40 qualifiers in each age group.  CYC Chess Meets will start again December 12, 2020.

When is the Championship Meet?

The top 40 qualifiers in each age group picked from all four qualifying meets will be invited to participate at the Archdiocesan Chess Championship meet.

**Due to the online format for the 2020-21 chess season, we have decided to not have a Championship meet**

2020-21 Season will be played online!

Join us for online chess meets this season!  We are hosting 4 meets with tournaments for each of the following age groups: K-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, and 7th-8th grades.  You must have an account with Lichess and join the CYC Chess League team.  To register for a tournament, click on the tournament dates below.
