Updated Letter From CYC Regarding COVID-19 (4/9/20)
Dear CYC families,
We hope you and your family are adjusting to this new way of life. While some aspects of working and learning at home are fun, we all miss our friends and co-workers.
On Tuesday night, the CYC Executive Board held its monthly meeting on Zoom. It was good to see everyone and to hear our stories of coping at home. We wanted to let everyone know about a few decisions made at this meeting:
- CYC baseball, softball and golf seasons are now cancelled for 2020, along with track and lacrosse. We considered the likelihood of getting back together before June and the overall health and safety of our CYC family when making this decision. Athletic Associations are encouraged to refund parents for these sports.
- All in-person classes for Play Like a Champion have been postponed until further notice. The August deadline for CYC head coaches to be trained by Play Like A Champion has been lifted. We are re-evaluating our options for training. We will let you know when we update this requirement.
Play Like A Champion has done an excellent job of offering support to their partners and providing resources for parents and our athletes. We encourage you to check out their website: https://www.playlikeachampion.org/
CYC Easter Season Trivia Challenge
As a fun way to keep those competitive juices flowing, starting next Monday, we are going to host a daily CYC trivia challenge throughout the season of Easter. We will post 5 questions online every day (Monday through Friday) from Easter through Pentecost.
The link to the quiz will be posted every day on Facebook and Twitter for all kids and adults to participate in. When you fill out the quiz you will list the parish that you play/coach sports with. We will track points throughout the “season” and the parish with the most points at the end will win a large gift card from Dick’s Sporting Goods. We will also have weekly drawings for gift cards for any individuals that participate in the trivia during that week. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get the daily links!
We know our CYC family is trying to make the best of this difficult situation. We pray for those who are infected with the virus and those who have friends and family who are ill. We pray for those who are experiencing hardships; financially, emotionally and spiritually. We pray for our CYC families as they work together to be the best they can be.
